Doheny State Beach (Tent and RV Camping)

For the thirteenth straight year, Doheny State Beach is the readers' choice as the County's "Best Camping Site" in the Orange County Register's 13th Annual Best of Orange County survey. This year, Doheny shares the honor with two other State Park campsites at San Onofre and San Clemente. As the writer states, "Doheny is popular partly because certain things haven't changed: The waves lull you to sleep at night, the sunsets are spectacular, and you can pitch your tent on the sand." Head South for More Camping in San Clemente:

There are three State Parks located in San Clemente. All three offer both tent and motor home facilities.

San Clemente State Park is located on the bluffs over looking San Clemente State Beach and is one of the most popular State Parks on the coast. Reservations are required. Access via the I-5 Calafia offramp.

San Mateo State Park is roughly one mile inland on Christanitous Road at the southern end of San Clemente. It is San Clemente’s newest park with bike/walking trails to the beach.

San Onofre State Park is three miles south of San Clemente and offers camping along the historic old Pacific Coast Highway. There are a number of short but steep trails that lead to some of Orange County’s most desolate and beautiful beaches.
